SCSU Soccer Takes Down Concordia-St. Paul, 2-1

St. Paul, Minn. - St. Cloud State women's soccer team finished the weekend on the road playing at Concordia-St. Paul Sunday as they defeated the Golden Bears, 2-1.
The Huskies coming off a loss to Minnesota State on Friday were looking to redeem themselves against the Golden Bears for a win in the NSIC. The first half of play was scoreless as the Huskies outshot Concordia-St. Paul by a margin of 4-1.
It was not until the 55:34 mark of the game when St. Cloud's Michelle Cornell headed the ball into the back of the net off a corner kick by sophomore Faith Bila taking a 1-0 lead. This was Cornell's fifth goal of the season.
St. Cloud would come back just minutes later at 58:16 extending their lead 2-0 over the Golden Bears on yet another header off a corner kick. Scoring for the Huskies was freshman Skye Finley and on the assist was Kara Dahmen.
Concordia-St. Paul was able to get on the board sneaking one past the Huskies at 69:11 making it a 2-1 game.
The Huskies were outshot in the second half 8-4 but held the Golden Bears for a 2-1 victory.
In goal for St. Cloud Sunday was Brittany Plombon as she recorded one save for the win, while Concordia-St. Paul's Kayla Kuczaboski also posted one save. Plombon improves her record to 7-6-1 on the season.
St. Cloud (7-6-1, 4-6-1 NSIC) will be back in action on October 26-27 as they play host to Northern State University and Minnesota State University Moorhead from the comforts of Husky Stadium. Game times are set for 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. respectively.
