Soccer at Home Against Northern State & MSU Moorhead

St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud State women's soccer teams back in the comforts for Husky Stadium this weekend as they play host to Northern State University on Saturday and Minnesota State University Moorhead on Sunday. Match times are set for 12 p.m. (noon) and 1 p.m. respectively.
St. Cloud State will next go on the road for one game on Friday, Nov. 1 at the University of Minnesota Crookston and then be back at Husky Stadium to end their 2013 regular season with Bemidji State on Sunday, Nov. 3. Game times are set for 3 p.m. and 1 p.m. respectively.

- The Huskies come into this weekend's games holding a 7-6-1 overall record and a 4-6-1 record in the NSIC. St. Cloud is tied in the conference standings for 9th place with opponent Northern State.
- Sunday's game at Husky Stadium has been designated as SCSU Soccer Parent's Day. Parents of Soccer team will be announced and recognized for their dedication and support of their athletes and the entire St. Cloud State soccer program.
- Northern State carries the same record 7-6-1, 4-6-1 NSIC into this weekend's match-up against St. Cloud. The last meeting between the teams came in 2012 on Oct. 21st at Northern where they tied 1-1 in double overtime.
- In the last five games for Northern State they have lost three of the five. They split last weekend defeating Sioux Falls by a final score of 2-1 and posted a 0-0 tie in double overtime two weeks ago against Minnesota Crookston.
- Minnesota State University Moorhead comes into the weekend with a 0-13 overall record and a 0-10 NSIC record. The Huskies last met the Dragons during the 2012 season on Oct. 20 where St. Cloud earned the shutout victory 2-0.
- MSU Moorhead has gotten at least one goal in their last five games with the exception for their game against Upper Iowa where they put up three goals.
- The Huskies lead the all-time series records against both teams this weekend holding a 5-2-2 record against Northern State since their first meeting in 2002 and a 19-0-1 record against MSU Moorhead since 1995.
- St. Cloud State was on the road again last weekend as they traveled to Minnesota State on Friday and Concordia-St. Paul on Sunday. The Huskies split the weekend as they fell to the Mavericks 7-2 and defeated Golden Bears 2-1.
- St. Cloud's sophomore Michelle Cornell put the Huskies on the board against the Mavericks at 61:00 as she fired a shot into the right side of the net off an assist from junior Kara Espinosa making it a 5-1 game.
- Cornell came back at the 72:20 mark for the Huskies heading the ball into the net off an assist by Kara Dahmen.
- Sharing the net for the Huskies Friday was sophomore Brittany Plombon and junior Taige Thoreson.
- The Huskies rounded out the weekend against the Golden Bears. The first half of play was scoreless as the Huskies outshot Concordia-St. Paul by a margin of 4-1.
- It was not until the 55:34 mark of the game when Cornell headed the ball into the back of the net off a corner kick by sophomore Faith Bila taking a 1-0 lead. This was Cornell's fifth goal of the season and third of the weekend.
- St. Cloud came back just minutes later at 58:16 extending their lead 2-0 over the Golden Bears on yet another header off a corner kick. Scoring for the Huskies was freshman Skye Finley and recording the assist was Kara Dahmen.
- The Golden Bears were able to get on the board sneaking one past the Huskies at 69:11 making it a 2-1 game but St. Cloud held the Golden Bears for a 2-1 victory.
- In goal for the Huskies against the Golden Bears was Brittany Plombon as she recorded one save for the win. Plombon improved her record to 7-6-1 on the season with the win.
- Leading the way for the Huskies this season is senior Kara Dahmen as she has recorded a total 11 points including two goals and seven assists. Dahmen has been dominate for St. Cloud on corner kicks this season and leads the team in shots with 27, 14 of which are on goal.
- Michelle Cornell is closely following Dahmen, leading the Huskies in goals (5) and is second on the team in points (10).
