Soccer Heads to North Dakota for Weekend Games

St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud State women's soccer team is heading to North Dakota this weekend as they take on the University of Mary Saturday, Oct. 12 and Minot State Sunday, Oct 13. Game times for both matches are set for 1 p.m.
SCSU soccer stays on the road Oct. 18 & 20 as they travel to Minnesota State Friday and Concordia-St. Paul on Sunday. Game times are slated for 3 p.m. and 1 p.m. respectively.
- St. Cloud State heads into this weekends games holding a 5-4-1 overall record and a 2-4-1 NSIC record.
- The University of Mary currently has a 2-7-1 overall record and a 2-4-1 NSIC record putting them 11th in the conference while Minot State is in 10th with a 2-4-1 NSIC record and 2-5-2 overall.
- The Huskies currently lead the all-time series with Mary holding a 6-3-0 record since their first meeting in 1995 and are tied in the all-time series 1-1-0 with Minot State since 2010.
- St. Cloud State gained its first conference win of the season with a solid 4-2 victory over Augustana College on Friday and kept it rolling into Sunday as they earned the weekend sweep defeating Wayne State 2-1.
- The Huskies rolled to a 3-0 lead in the first half against Augustana to set the game's tempo and then added one more in the second half to ice the win.
- Both of Augie's goals were charted in the second half after SCSU gained a 4-0 lead.
- To open the contest, SCSU's Ally Herod scored at 5:48 in the first half with an assist from Naomi Kolhoff
- SCSU stretched its lead to 2-0 with a goal by Taige Thoreson at 14:25 on a header into the top right of the goal. Gabby Fleck posted the lone assist on the play.
- At 32:36, Kayla Stevenson notched the game winner with a header goal off a corner kick assist from teammate Kara Dahmen to make it 3-0.
- In the second half, Dahmen connected again with a corner kick assist that was put into the net on a header by Kara Espinosa at 53:39 to make it 4-0.
- Augustana broke the shutout for SCSU's Brittany Plombon with a goal at 59:27 to make it 4-1 and completed the scoring at 75:32 of the game for a 4-2 final.
- The Huskies ended their weekend play hosting the Wayne State Wildcats.
- The Wildcats went up on the Huskies 1-0 early in the first half but SCSU came back to tie the game up at 31:48 of the game.
- Sophomore Bailly Drayton fired the shot to tie the game up 1-1 on one of many corner kicks for the Huskies.
- Kara Dahmen was credited with the corner kick assist as she put it into play for Drayton.
- The game would stay tied 1-1 until the 77:31 mark of the game when senior Becca Hodous found the back of the net pulling the goalie out and shooting into the right side of the net taking a 2-1 lead. The assist was charted to Dahmen, for her second assist of the game.
- The Huskies outshot Wayne State by a final margin of 19 to 10, with 13 coming in the second half.
- Dahmen finished the weekend on top for the Huskies as she put up four assists with three of them coming directly from her corner kicks. Dahmen had 10 corner kicks against Wayne State and three against Augie.
- Plombon made some amazing saves this weekend in the net for SCSU, recording a total 12 saves and allowed only three goals to improve her record to 5-4-1 on the season.
