Women's Hockey Lands Four 2014-15 Early Recruits

St. Cloud, Minn. - St. Cloud State University head women's hockey coach Jeff Giesen announced today that four high school seniors have committed to the Huskies' hockey program and will enroll at the University next fall. Brittney Anderson of Hudson, Wis., Justine Fredette of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Alyssa Erickson of Mission, British Columbia, and Emma Turbyville of Chicago, Ill., will join the Huskies in the fall of 2014.
Brittney Anderson - Anderson, a 5'6" defenseman is a member of the Hill-Murray High School girls hockey program. She is the team captain as well as a varsity letter winner in hockey. So far this season, Anderson has played in both games for Hill-Murray recording one asisst. Anderson's junior season she played in 31 games recording 15 points (3g, 12a). One of her goals came in their first State Tournament game against Eagan for the game winner. During her time at Hill-Murray, she earned All-Conference and All-Conference Honorable Mention honors. Anderson also played soccer and was a varsity letter winner. She attended the Select 14 and Select 15 USA Hockey player development camp and was a member of the Hill-Murray team that played in the 2013 State Championship game.
"Brittney is a strong and powerful skating defenseman," says coach Giesen. "She has a good shot and plays a physical game with an offensive presence."
Justine Fredette - Fredette, a 5'5" forward, is a two-sport athlete in hockey and soccer for Shaftesbury Titans Prep. She played for the Shaftesbury Titans Prep for the last two years, earning the Top-Forward Award in 2011-12 and the Winnipeg Ice AAA award. During the 2012-13 season, Fredette recorded 54 points, including 27 goals and 27 assists, which ranked her third in points on the team. She was a member of the team that was the Champions of the Minnesota Thoroughbreds Tournament and the second place team of the Mandi Schwartz Memorial Tournament in 2012.
"Justine is a very hard worker who has a very good shot. She is also a good playmaker, which with her shot makes her another offensive threat for our team."
Alyssa Erickson - Erickson, a 5'8" forward, will come to St. Cloud after being a member of the Okanagan Hockey Academy-JWHL for the past three years. She has played for Okanagan Hockey Academy since 2011 where she has recorded 42 goals and 59 assists in her first two seasons. So far this season in 13 games played she has posted 11 points with seven goals and four assists. In 2010, she played for the Mission Bantam Boys AAA team and tallied 10 goals and 13 assists. Erickson was invited to the National U18 Camp and in 2010, she won a gold medal at the British Columbia 2010 Winter Games in Terrace.
"Alyssa is good around the net and has a good offensive touch. She is a very competitive and skilled athlete that will add offense to our line up."
Emma Turbyville - Turbyville, a 5'10" defenseman, is a two-sport athlete in hockey and golf for Shattuck St. Mary's. She played golf for two seasons and was a part of the hockey team for three years. So far this season, she has appeared in 22 games, recording one goal and six assists. Last year, Turbyville posted 17 points (5g, 12a) in 61 games played on the Girls U16 Squad. Turbyville was a member of the Shattuck St. Mary's team that won a national championship her junior year. A role model on and off the ice, Turbyville has been an Academic Honor student for the past two years.

"They are all very solid students and each will help to keep improving our team in the competitive Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). They all play for very strong programs and will be well prepared to take the next step."
