Huskies Sweep Missouri S&T in Doubleheader

The Huskies improved to 9-2 on the seasons and have won nine of their last ten games. Missouri S&T dropped to 0-5 this season.
In the first game, St. Cloud State produced nine runs on 13 hits and Scott Lieser earned his third win of the season on the mound. The Huskies scored runs in the first five innings.
A Garrett Fischer rbi single up the middle produced the first Husky run of the game in the bottom of the first inning. A two-run double by Eric Loxtercamp in the fifth helped the Huskies to a three run inning and the win.
Ten Huskies had at least one hit in the game. Shortstop Travis Cariveau with three hits and second baseman Steve Rindelaub with two hits led the offensive attack for the Huskies. Cariveau was three for four, scored two runs and had one rbi. Rindelaub was two for two with one run and two rbi's.
Lieser pitched four innings for the Huskies giving up three runs and struck out one batter. Chris Kubitz pitched three innings in relief, giving up one hit and striking out six.
Missouri S&T scored all three of its runs in the fifth inning on a pair of singles by Michael Lockett and Will Morrison. S&T sent four pitchers to the mound and walked five batters.
Kyle Fischer threw a complete game, shutout giving up on hit in the first inning in game two for the Huskies. He faced 24 batters, struck out two and walked two. He improved to 3-1 on the season with the win.
The Huskies produced six runs on seven hits and were errorless in the field in both games.
The teams played four scoreless innings before the Huskies broke through in the top of the fifth when Loxtercamp drew a lead-off walk and later scored on a wild pitch. A Brian Hansen sacrifice fly and two-run triple by Fischer accounted for the Huskies three runs in the inning.
A Loxtercamp two run single in the eighth finished the scoring for the Huskies. Loxtercamp finished the game with two hits , two runs and two rbi.
Clint Wobber produced the lone hit for Missouri S&T. Nolan Korn took the loss giving up one run on three hits.
The Huskies will play Kansas Wesleyan University in a Dome doubleheader on March 18.
