SCSU Baseball Earns 14th Straight Win

In game one Minot State took a 3-0 lead at the top of the first inning on a couple fielding errors by St. Cloud State.
The Huskies came back to lead 5-3 at the end of the first inning as Phil Imholte started the inning off with a walk. Loxtercamp hit a single and was followed with a bunt single by Garrett Fischer to fill the bases. Sean Borman came up to the plate and had a ground rule double to left center scoring Imholte and Loxtercamp. Travis Cariveau also hit a double in the first inning to tally two RBIs.
SCSU continued to put some numbers on the board with one run in the second and two in the third inning.
Chris Kubitz started on the mound for the Huskies pitching allowing only three hits in six innings pitched. Logan Spitzack relieved Kubitz to pitch the seventh inning and pitched two strikeouts. With the win Kubitz moves his record to 3-0 on the season.
In game two, Minot State came out and went up 1-0 in the first inning with a home run by Mike Turcotte. SCSU was not going to let them keep a lead as they scored three runs in the bottom of the first. Borman hit another ground rule double to score a run for the Huskies to be followed with a single by Michael Jurgella for two RBIs.
Loxtercamp hit a double in the second inning scoring a run for SCSU to take a 4-1 lead over Minot State. The Huskies earned one run in the fourth and two in the fifth taking the game to a 7-1 lead.
Minot State was able to get three more runs on the board with one in the seventh and two in the eighth making it a 7-4 final.
On the mound for the Huskies in game two was Corey Fitzgerald who pitched six innings for the win and moved his record to 2-0 on the season. Ryan Diers relieved Fitzgerald to pitch one inning and then Reese Gregory finished out the final two innings for the save.
St. Cloud State (21-2, 10-0 NSIC) is set to return to action on Wednesday, April 10 as they travel to Southwest Minnesota State for a doubleheader.
