SCSU Soccer to Host Winona State and Upper Iowa

St. Cloud, Minn. -Â The St. Cloud State University women's soccer team is set for two games in the comforts of Husky Stadium this weekend September 21-22. The Huskies will play host to Winona State University on Saturday and Upper Iowa University on Sunday with game times starting at 1 p.m. both days.Â
Tickets for all SCSU Soccer home games can be purchased at the gate the day of the event or you can purchase in advance by going to www.scsutickets.com. Attention SCSU students! All SCSU students with a valid St. Cloud State student ID card will be admitted FREE to all regular season Husky home soccer games in 2013. Just show your ID card at the gate and get in free...it is that easy!
- St. Cloud State comes into this weekend's games holding a record of 3-1 overall and are 0-1 in the NSIC
- Winona State is currently 1-1-2 overall and 0-1 in the NSIC, while Upper Iowa is 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the NSIC.
- WSU leads the all-time series against the Huskies with a 15-2-2 record that was first started in 1996.
- UIU and St. Cloud are currently tied in their all-time series together 1-1-4 at which they first played each other in 2008.
- SCSU kicked off their first home stand on the right foot last Friday night with a 2-1 victory over Northwest Missouri State University.Â
- Sophomore Gabby Fleck got around the Bearcats goalie to shoot from about 16 yards out taking a 1-0 lead at the 5:04 mark of the game. This was Fleck's first goal of the season and was assisted by juniors Taige Thoreson and Kara Espinosa.
- Northwest Missouri came back tying the game up at the 8:41 mark to take a 1-1 game into halftime.Â
- SCSU was not done as they came out in the second half scoring just minutes into the half as sophomores Bailly Drayton and Naomi Kolhoff connected for the game-winning goal and 2-1 victory over the Bearcats. This was Kolhoff's first goal as a Husky.
- The Huskies ended their first home stand hosting Minnesota Duluth on Sunday as they endured their first loss of the season to the Bulldogs by a final score of 4-1.
- Duluth came out to take a 1-0 lead over the Huskies at the 24:06 mark of the game and then extended their lead at the 32:36 mark making it 2-0 game.
- The Huskies came out in the second half fighting to get that first goal and to shorten the lead of the Bulldogs. At the 50:19 mark of the game it was Kara Dahmen pulling the goalie up to shoot from about 40 yards out over the head of the goalie and into the top middle making it a 2-1 game. Bailly Drayton was recorded with the assist to Dahmen.Â
- St. Cloud was unable to hold on as UMD scored two back-to-back goals at the 54:25 and 64:30 marks of the game for a 4-1 lead.
- Sophomore Brittany Plombon was in goal for the Huskies recording 13 saves on the weekend. Going 1-1 on the weekend Plombon moves her season record to 3-1.
- Last weekend, the Huskies held their 6th Annual Husky Supporters Weekend in celebration of 20 years of Husky Soccer. The whole weekend was filled with fun and entertaining events that alumni, parents, fans, and current players and coaches were able to enjoy.
