Upper Iowa came out to start the game strong scoring just 38 seconds into the game for a 1-0 lead over St. Cloud. Aimee Wrongski recorded the goal with an assist by Trina Gallagher.
The Peacocks would continue to extend their lead scoring at the 27:36 and 37:55 marks of the game to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
St. Cloud was able to come out in the second half scoring at the 47:21 mark by junior Taige Thoreson making it a 3-1 game. This was Thoreson's first goal of the season. The assist was charted to freshman Skye Finley on the goal.
The Huskies could not hold on as Upper Iowa made it a 4-1 game at the 60:48 mark and then sealed a 5-1 victory at the 87:34 mark on a goal by Madie Edwards.
In the net was sophomore Brittany Plombon as she recorded seven saves, while UIU's Kaitlyn Emanuel and Amanda Smith each tallied two saves.
St. Cloud State (3-3, 0-3 NSIC) now takes to the road September 28-29 as they travel to Southwest Minnesota State University and the University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) respectively. Both games are set for 1 p.m. start times.
