Marshall, Minn. - The St. Cloud State University women's soccer team traveled to Southwest Minnesota State Saturday for their first NSIC road game of the 2013 season. The Huskies fell in a tough battle against the Mustangs by a final score of 1-0.
The first half was a game of defense as it was scoreless in the first half of play with SMSU outshooting the Huskies eight to three.Â
With a scoreless first half, coming out in the second half was anyone's game to win. It was not until the 81:23 mark when the Mustangs broke the scoreless game with a goal by Danica Caudillo. Miranda Cadena assisted Caudillo on her first goal of the season.
The Huskies shot six times in the second half with five of them being on goal. Leading the Huskies in shots against SMSU was senior captain Kara Dahmen, as she put-up three shots including two on goal.
In the net for St. Cloud was sophomore Brittany Plombon as she recorded eight saves and played all 90 minutes of the game.Â
The Huskies will be back in action Sunday, September 29 as they travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. to take on the USF Cougars. Game time is slated for a 1 p.m. start.Â
