Huskies Kick Start Road Stint at Bemidji State

St. Cloud, Minn. - St. Cloud State women's hockey takes to the road Jan. 10-11 to start a six game road stint as they kick off with the Bemidji State University Beavers at the Sanford Center. Game times are set for 7:07 p.m. and 4:07 p.m. respectively.
THE RECORD:Â The Huskies hold a 3-16-3 overall record and a 2-12-2-1 record good for nine points in the ever-grueling WCHA coming into their series against Bemidji State. St. Cloud currently sits in seventh place in conference standings.
LAST TIME OUT: The Huskies ended their eight-game home stand that started back in 2013 against No. 2 Wisconsin at Brooks Center this past weekend as the Badgers took both games earning the sweep over St. Cloud, 3-1 and 4-0. Senior forward Julia Gilbert earned the sole goal for the Huskies on the weekend against the Badgers. On Friday, just seconds after Wisconsin's first power-play opportunity ended in the third period, Gilbert capitalized on a turnover down low tying the game up 1-1. Gilbert was unassisted on the goal, recording her sixth of the season. The Huskies penalty kill was notable as always Friday, holding the Badgers to a zero-for-three power-play. Saturday was all Wisconsin as they shutout the Huskies. Once again splitting time between the pipes for the Huskies against Wisconsin was junior Julie Friend and sophomore Katie Fitzgerald. Friend recorded 37 saves on Jan. 3, while Fitzgerald was the netminder on Jan. 4, posting 41 saves. Friend moves her record to 2-9-2 on the season as Fitzgerald sees her record move to 1-7-1.

All-Time Series: The Huskies lead the all-time series against the Beavers holding a 30-27-7 record coming into this weekend's series that dates back to Jan. 22, 1999, their first series together in Bemidji.Â
Ranking: Bemidji is currently ranked fifth in the WCHA standings with 17 points. BSU is not currently ranked in national polls.
Leaders: Leading the Beavers so far this season is Kaitlyn Tougas and Hanna Moher each with 10 points. Tougas has tallied four goals; six assists, 49 shots on goal, and defensively has 19 blocks. Moher holds seven goals, three assists, 45 shots on goal, and 20 defensive blocks.Â
PREVIOUS MEETINGS: The Huskies and the Beavers have not yet met this season but in four games during the 2012-13 season, St. Cloud took three of the four. The first series came on Oct. 12-13 at Bemidji with SCSU earning the sweep, 3-1 and 1-0. The final series last season was on Jan. 4-5 in St. Cloud where the teams split the series. The Huskies won game one 4-2 and the Beavers took game two, 2-0.
