Gophers Take 5-0 Victory Over the Huskies

St. Cloud, Minn.---The St. Cloud State Huskies (5-9-1, 2-5-1 WCHA)Â fell to the #2 ranked Minnesota Gophers (12-1-2, 9-1-2 WCHA)Â in the Hall of Fame exhibition game in Edina, Minnesota on Nov. 24.
Minnesota's Kelly Pannek opened the scoring in the game when she found the back of the net with just over two minutes left in the first. As play resumed, just minutes into the second period, SCSU's Lexi Slattery took a penalty and sent the Gophers on a power play. Pannek capitalized and got her second goal of the night. Two more goals followed late in the second, only 1 minute apart. The fifth and final goal came midway through the third, when Pannek put one past SCSU goaltender Julie Friend, to get her third goal of the night.
The Huskies were unable to find the back of the net with 19 shots in 60 minutes of play. The Gophers tallied 45 shots on net. In three games the SCSU goaltenders have faced a combined total of 136 shots and have put 46 shots on net.
St. Cloud travel to Grand Forks, North Dakota, for a conference series against UND. Further details of where to follow the series will be posted later in the week.
