SCSU Soccer travel to Winona State and Upper Iowa

The St. Cloud State University soccer team (3-3-0, 2-1-0 NSIC) will be back on the road this weekend for a pair of NSIC games. On Sept. 27, the Huskies will travel to Winona State University for a 1 p.m. game. On Sept. 28, the Huskies will complete the road trip with a 1 p.m. match at Upper Iowa University.

HUSKIES HEADLINES

SCSU senior forward Kara Espinosa was named the NSIC Offensive Player of the Week after posting back-to-back game winning goals last weekend in games at Northern State and Minnesota State, Moorhead. Espinosa now has two goals for the Huskies this season. She currently leads the Huskies with four points this season.
Senior Taige Thoreson ranks second on the squad this year with three points (1g/1a). She scored both points in the Huskies' win at NSU.
In her first game of the 2014 season, senior goalkeeper Kenzie Hanzlik posted a 1-0 shutout against MSU, Moorhead. This was her 14th career shutout at SCSU and her 24th career win. She now ranks second in the team records for most career wins and she now needs two more shutouts to tie the current team record of 16 career shutouts set by Elizabeth Kelly from 2006-09.
Winona State owns a 5-1, 2-1 NSIC record in 2014. Upper Iowa owns a 1-4-0 record, 1-2-0 NSIC this fall.
The victory over Northern State marked the first NSIC victory for first-year SCSU coach Gretta Arvesen.
Sophomore Brittany Plombon holds a 1.60 GAA and a .800 save rate this season in the nets.
Defender Faith Bila added her first point of the season with an assist on the GWG at MSU, Moorhead.
The Huskies will return home on Oct. 4 for a match at Husky Stadium against Southwest Minnesota State. On Oct. 5, the Huskies will host Sioux Falls. Both games are schedule to start at 1 p.m.
