#6 St. Cloud State men's hockey on the road to #11/12 Denver

The #6 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (12-4-0, 6-2-0 NCHC) will play a weekend series at Denver, Colo. against the #11/12 University of Denver on Dec. 11-12. The Friday game will begin at 8:37 p.m. (CT) and the second game of the series at DU's Magness Arena (6,315 cap./200x85) will begin at 8:07 p.m. Â

ANNUAL TEDDY BEAR TOSS: Thanks to all who participated in the fifth annual Teddy Bear Toss at the hockey and basketball games at SCSU on Dec. 5. A total of over 1,500 Teddy Bears and stuffed animal toys were collected through the event for donation to this year's Toys for Tots drive in the St. Cloud area. Thank You SCSU Fans!Â
BIG NUMBERS IN 2015-16: As a team, SCSU ranks fifth in the nation with a scoring average of 4.12 goals per game in 2015-16. On defense, SCSU now ranks 12th in the nation with a goals allowed average of 2.12 goals per game...The Huskies power play continues to find success in 2015-16. The Huskies have scored on the advantage in seven of its last eight games played. They currently ranked third in the country on the power play with a 28.6 percent conversion rate (18-of-63).
SERIES HISTORY: In the series against Denver, the Huskies own a 38-45-5 all-time record against the Pioneers. The series opened on Nov. 29, 1988 with an 8-4 win by DU in Denver, Colo.
OMAHA SPLIT: The #7 Huskies charted their fourth consecutive victory with a 4-1 win over #6 Omaha on Dec. 4. Robby Jackson kicked off the SCSU offense with a first period goal, while Judd Peterson scored the game winner in the second perid for SCSU to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead. Omaha's Jake Guentzel scored the Mavs' lone goal with a SHG in the second before Jimmy Murray ended the period with his sixth goal of the season to make it 3-1. Jackson returned in the final period to post his second marker of the evening. Charlie Lindgren gained his 11th win of the season with 26 saves in the nets for the Huskies...the weekend concluded with a 7-2 victory by Omaha on Dec. 5. The lone goals for the Huskies were tallied by Jimmy Schuldt and Jackson in the contest... This marked just the second time this season that the Huskies have lost at home and it also snapped a four-game winning streak for the Huskies. The loss also ended a five-game winning streak for the Huskies against the Mavericks. SCSU is now 10-3-1 in play against Omaha at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.

JUDD AT 10: Judd Peterson scored a goal in SCSU's 4-1 victory over Omaha on Dec. 4 at the HBNHC. This was Peterson's team-leading 10th goal of the season. A Buffalo draftee, Peterson now has 14 goals in two seasons with the Huskies. He now ranks 14th in the nation with an average of 0.67 goals per game and he is third in the country with two SHGs to his credit this year.
DYNAMIC DUO: The duo of David Morley and Kalle Kossila both lead the Huskies this season with 18 points apiece. Kossila has a team-leading 15 assists this winter and 117 career points at SCSU (37g/80a). He is the 10th player in SCSU's DI history to score 80 assists during is college career. He also ranks 17th on the team's career point list now.
JUST NEEDS ONE: Morley has seven goals and 11 assists for the Huskies this winter. He is just one point away from joining SCSU's 100-point club. He now has 44 goals and 55 assists during his four seasons with the Huskies.
COLORADO CONNECTION: SCSU freshman forward Mikey Eyssimont will enjoy a homecoming of sorts this weekend with SCSU's trip to Denver. Eyssimont is a resident of the Denver suburb of Littleton, Colo. And played junior hockey with the Colorado Thunderbirds. On the topic of Colorado ties, SCSU junior forward Ben Storm is a draft pick of the Colorado Avalanche.
3 GOALS:  Robby Jackson enjoyed a stellar weekend with three goals in play against Omaha on Dec. 4-5. The rookie from Alameda, Calif. Now has six goals and nine points for the Huskies this season. He is SCSU's top scoring first-year player.
HELPING HANDS: Â Kalle Kossila ranks sixth in the country with an average of .94 assists per game this season (15 in 16 games), while defender Ethan Prow ranks ninth in the nation with an average of .92 assists per game (11 in 12 games).
DEFENSIVE PROW-ESS: Ethan Prow continues to impress during his senior season with the Huskies. He currently ranks second in the nation among Division I blue liners with a scoring average of 1.08 points per game. In 12 games on ice this winter, Prow has tallied two goals and 11 assists for 13 points. He now has 13 goals and 61 assists in his career.
RANDOM NOTES: Of SCSU's four losses this season, the Huskies have lost games against two games against #2 ranked Quinnipiac, one game against #4 North Dakota and one game against #5 Omaha... Joey Benik and Patrick Russell both rank third in the nation this season with three game winning goals apiece... Last year at the HBNHC, the Huskies posted a 3-2 loss and a 4-2 win on Mar. 6-7, 2015. In Denver last season, the Huskies lost a pair of games on Jan. 16-17, 2015 by scores of 3-1 and 4-1. SCSU head coach Bob Motzko is 15-14-1 in the series against DU during his tenure in St. Cloud...Jimmy Schuldt had a breakout weekend against Omaha. In the two game set, Schuldt had a goal and two assists for the Huskies. On the season, Schuldt has 2g/7a. Both his mom and dad attended SCSU.
