The St. Cloud State University Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and its Giving Tree will be making the holidays a bit brighter for many needy families in the St. Cloud community.
The Giving Tree was recently set up in the southeast corner of SCSU's Halenbeck Hall for the Huskies recent home basketball games on Dec. 4-5. Â The tree was decorated with different ornaments and each ornament was designated with an age and whether it was for a boy or girl. Â Fans were then asked to select an ornament and then purchase a toy for that specific individuals and return the wrapped present to the SCSU Athletic Office before the holidays.
The toys and presents collected were then donated to Catholic Charities and Toys for Tots in the St. Cloud area. Â Over 70 gifts were collected during the Giving Tree drive in 2015. Â The Giving Tree program is coordinated each year by the St. Cloud State Student Athlete Advisory Council.
"St. Cloud State Athletics and SAAC would like to thank all of our fans and community members who helped make the Giving Tree program and big success in 2015," said St. Cloud State SAAC advisor Jeff Hegle.Â
