The Huskies Fall to the Wisconsin Badger in Game #1 of Playoffs

Madison, Wis. --- As the first game of play offs came to an end, the St. Cloud State Huskies (8-27-1, 5-22-1 WCHA) find themselves trailing 1-0 in the series against the Wisconsin Badgers (25-6-4, 19-6-3 WCHA).Â
Wisconsin came out with hot hands as they put three pucks in the back of the net in the first 15 minutes. St. Cloud State freshman, Alyssa Erickson, stepped up once again scoring her fourth goal of the season and second goal against the Badgers in a week. Assists were awarded to Kalli Funk and Vanessa Spataro. Wisconsin responded to the Huskies goal within seconds, sending the Huskies down 3 going into the first intermission.Â
The 4-1 score stayed put until just over 10 minutes remained on the clock and the Badgers put up their final goal, solidifying their game one win with a 5-1 score.Â
Julie Friend has faced a total of 107 shots in the last two games she has played against the Badgers. Wisconsin put up 53 shots on net in the Huskies win on Friday, Feb. 20 and 54 shots in tonights contest.Â
The puck will drop at 7:07 p.m. on Feb. 28 to start game two of the best of three series.
