The St. Cloud State Huskies Unable to Hold of the Bemidji State Beavers

Bemidji, Minn---The Bemidji State Beavers (15-13-1, 10-12-1 WCHA) defeated the St. Cloud State Huskies (6-22-1, 3-18-1 WCHA) 3-1 on Friday, February 6th.
Both teams came out for a competitive first period, leaving the game 0-0 going into the first intermission. As the second period unraveled, St. Cloud's Lauren Hespenheide was sent to the box for a slashing penalty. The Beavers capitalized on their man advantage, making the score 1-0. Just minutes after they sent another one past Katie Fitzgerald, extending their lead to 2-0 going into second intermission.
In hopes of a comeback, St. Cloud pulled Fitzgerald with just over 2 minutes left in the game. SCSU took control and Audrey Hanmer was able to find the back of the net, closing the Beavers lead 2-1, with 27 seconds to play. Bemidji put the puck in the empty net with just seconds on the clock to solidify their win 3-1.
Junior goaltender, Katie Fitzgerald, faced the Beavers for the second time this season. She gained a win in the first match up against them, on Dec. 13 2014, but was unable to hold off their 36 shots in tonight's match up.
The series continues Feb. 7th with a start time of 4:07 at the Sanford Arena in Bemidji.
