The #1 St. Cloud State University baseball team (45-3, 29-3 NSIC) continued it success in the NSIC race by gaining a pair of road conference victories at Northern State University (25-22, 18-16 NSIC) in Aberdeen, S.D. on Friday, May 1. The Huskies charted a 13-2 victory in game one and then completed the twinbill sweep with a 14-2 win in game two.

The victories helped the Huskies maintain a share of first place in the conference race along with Minnesota State University, which also owns a 29-3 record in league play. SCSU will finish the NSIC regular season with a pair of games at Northern State on May 2, while Minnesota State finishes the weekend with a pair of games at home against Winona State University.

In game one, the Huskies outhit the Wolves 15-6 to gain the victory. In the second inning, SCSU posted two runs and then charged to a 6-0 lead with four runs in the third inning. The Huskies then added two runs in the fourth inning and five runs in the sixth to finish the game with a 13-2 lead.

At the plate, Mike Jurgella blasted two homers along with three runs, four hits and three RBIs to pace the Huskies on offense. Zak Hoffman also had a homer, two hits and three RBIs in the game, while Reese Gregory and Kyle Lieser also had three hits apiece for SCSU. On the mound, Kevin Bolder improved to 4-0 on the season with the pitching decison that included three strikeouts and four hits allowed in 6.0 innings of work. Adam Harlander ended the game for SCSU with one inning of relief work in the seventh.

In the nightcap, SCSU outhit NSU 18-6 to cruise to the 14-2 victory. The game was ended after the seventh inning due to the 10-run rule. Reese Gregory and Zak Hoffman each had home runs in the game for the Huskies, while Hoffman had two hits, two runs and three RBIs in the game. Karl Sorensen had three hits and three RBIs in the game, while two hits apiece were supplied by Zach Hoffmann, Jurgella, Beau Fandel, Gregory and Kyle Lieser.

On the mound, Ryan Diers was the pitcher of record with two strikeouts and two hits allowed, while Bryan Rohde and Karsen Forsman combined for four strikeouts in the final four innings for the Huskies in relief.
