St. Cloud State rolls in NCAA tourney with 4-0 win over SAU

The St. Cloud State University baseball team (53-4) advanced in NCAA Division II Central Region tournament play on Saturday, May 16 with a 4-0 victory over Southern Arkansas University (40-18) at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, Minn. Â
The victory allowed SCSU to stay alive in regional play as the Huskies improved to 2-1 in the double-elimination tournament. Â SCSU will now play Minnesota State University at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 16. Â The winner of this game will then advance to play Henderson State in the regional championship game on Sunday, May 17 at Joe Faber FIeld in St. Cloud. Â Earlier in the day on May 16, MSU lost a 9-6 decision against Henderson State, which remains as the only undefeated team in tournament play.
SCSU junior Garrett Harrison turned in an impressive complete game effort that featured 10 strikeouts, 10 hits allowed an no runs allowed in the win over SAU. Â The victory improves Harrison's 2015 record to a perfect 9-0.Â
SAU managed to out the Huskies 10-6 in the game but SCSU opened the game with three runs in the first to set the tempo for the match. Â St. Cloud State then posted an insurance run in the eighth inning to make the final tally 4-0.
Eric Loxtercamp, Brandon Arnold, MIke Jurgella and Jackson Goplen all scored runs in the game for SCSU, while Zach Hoffmann had two hits in the contest. Â RBIs were added in the game by SCSU's Jurgella, Karl Sorensen, Beau Fandel and Kyle Lieser.
