The St. Cloud State University baseball team (54-5) saw its historic 2015 season come to an end with an 8-7 loss in 10-innings to Henderson State University (31-19) in the championship game of the NCAA DIvision II Central Region tournament on Sunday, May 17 at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, Minn.

The Reddies' pinch runner Alex Morgan scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning to send Henderson State to the 2015 NCAA Division II championships in Cary, N.C. on May 23-30. SCSU finishes its 2015 campaign with a school record 54 victories, which included an NSIC regular season title (31-3) and an NSIC tournament championship.

SCSU has advanced to the NCAA Division II Central Region tournament five times since 2010 and the Huskies have finsihed as the regional runner-up four times since 2010 under the leadership of eighth year head coach Pat Dolan.

Henderson State opened the game with two runs in the first inning before the Huskies rallied with five runs in the second inning. A three-run homer by Zak Hoffman capped the third inning, while runs in that inning were also added by Karl Sorensen, Beau Fandel, Reese Gregory and Eric Loxtercamp.

SCSU pushed its lead to 7-2 with a pair of runs in the third inning that were scored by Zach Hoffmann and Sorensen. HSU came back with one run in the third and one run in the sixth to close the gap to 7-4. In the seventh inning, HSU made it 7-5 and then tied the game with two runs in the eighth inning before posting the winning run in the 10th.

In the game, Henderson State outhit the Huskies 11-9. Sheldon Miks was the pitcher of record for SCSU with the loss in relief. Logan Spitzack started the game and went 4.0 inning before being relieved by Kevin Bolder, who pitched 3.2 innings, and Gregory, who pitched 1.1 innings.

Eric Loxtercamp and Karl Sorensen had two hits apiece in the contest for the Huskies.

SCSU players named to the 2015 NCAA Division II Central Region All-Tournament team included Gregory, Lieser and Loxtercamp.
