#4/5 Huskies to host Colorado College on Jan. 8-9

The #4/5 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (16-4-0, 8-2-0 NCHC) will play a weekend series at home against NCHC rival Colorado College (4-16-0, 2-8-0 NCHC) on Friday, Jan. 8 and Saturday, Jan. 9. The Friday game will begin at 7:37 p.m. and the second game of the series at SCSU's Herb Brooks National Hockey Center (5,159 cap./200x100) will begin at 7:07 p.m.

THIS WEEK'S SCSU HOCKEY PROMOTIONS
SKATE WITH THE HUSKIES: Fans can hit the ice with the Huskies after the game on Saturday, Jan. 9. After the end of the game, fans can skate on the main rink at the HBNHC along with members of the SCSU men's hockey team. This event is free and open to the public. Free skate rental will be available at the HBNHC Pro Shop or you can also bring your own skates. This will be a great chance to meet your favorite Huskies and get autographs and photos. The event is sponsored by Wolters Kluwer.
YOUTH HOCKEY NIGHT: All youth hockey players who wear their team jersey will be admitted free to the SCSU game on Friday, Jan. 8 when accompanied by a paid adult. The first 250 youth at the game will also receive mystery point cards from Chuck E. Cheese's in St.Cloud. In addition, the first 500 fans entering the game on Friday, Jan. 8 will receive a rally towel from game sponsor Preferred One.
FREE ZUBAZ HATS: The first 150 SCSU students entering the game on Jan. 9 at the northeast entrance will receive a free SCSU Zubaz hat!

HUSKIES ON THE CBS SPORTS NETWORK: The Huskies' game on Jan. 8 will be featued on the CBS Sports Network national telecast. The game will be called by the team of Ben Holden, Dave Starman and Shireen Saski. Fans can watch the games around the country live! CBS Sports Network is available on Charter Cable in the St. Cloud area on channels 412/807 and it is also available on DirecTV 221 and Dish Network 158 (or check your local listings). The SCSU-CC game on Saturday, Jan. 9 will be televised live on the SCSU Sports Network (Charter Channel 426/823 and Comcast Xfinity Channel 999).
POLL POSITION: SCSU was ranked #4 in the USCHO.com and 5th in the USA Today/USA Hockey DI national polls this week....SCSU has been ranked among the nation's top 20 teams in every poll so far this season.

SUN BLOCK: The #4/5 Huskies rolled to a weekend sweep over first-time opponent Arizona State Sun Devils with a 6-1 win on Jan. 1 and a 7-0 win on Jan. 2 at the HBNHC. Junior blueliner had a breakout weekend with one assist on Jan. 1 and 1g/3a in the win on Jan. 2. For his efforts, Nevalainen was named the NCHC Defenseman of the Week on Jan. 4. SCSU limited ASU to just one goal and the Huskies were a perfect 5-5 on the PK over the weekend.
TOP OF THE CHARTS: The Huskies moved to the top of the NCAA scoring charts in 2015-16 with an average of 4.50 goals per game. SCSU's 90 goals leads the nation this winter and the Huskies moved up to number eight in the country with a goals allowed average of 1.95 per game. SCSU also ranks second in the nation on the power play at 30.6% (22/72).
PROW IS AT THE FRONT: St. Cloud State senior captain Ethan Prow leads all NCAA DI defenders with 20 points scored this winter. He also ranks fourth among all NCAA players with an average of 1.00 assists per game in 2015-16.
HUSKY ACE: Junior netminder Charlie Lindgren added his fifth shutout of the year with his 29 save effort against the Sun Devils. He now owns a 15-4-0 record this season and has eight shutouts in his career. Lindgren is one shutout shy of the team career record of nine shutouts marked by Scott Meyer from 1996-01. He is also two shutouts away from Meyer's single season shutout record of seven, which was set in 1999-00. Lindgren now ranks third in the nation this season with five shutouts to his credit... Lindgren ranks 2nd in the nation with 15 wins this year
ALMOST THERE: Senior Joey Benik needs two more points to join the Huskies 100-point club. He currently has charted 98 points in 116 games in his career at SCSU. He would become the third SCSU player this year to hit 100 career points, joining fellow teammates Kalle Kossila and David Morley in the 100-point club. Of note, Benik ranks 20th in the team records with 48 career goals and he ranks 42nd in the team records for career assists. He would become the 28th played in the team's DI history to score 100 career points.
MORE ON PROW: Ethan Prow continues to impress this year at the blueline. This season, Prow has 4g/16a for a total of 20 points. In four years at SCSU, Prow has 15g/66a for 81 points. Prow ranks 7th among SCSU defenders for career points just behind current SCSU assistant coach Garrett Raboin who had 83 points from 2006-10.
SENIOR SUCCESS: Kalle Kossila leads the Huskies this season with 25 points and 17 assists. He also has 42g/82a for 124 points in four seasons at SCSU. In the team charts, Kossila now ranks 12th in for career scoring. He also ranks 16th in the nation this season with a scoring average of 1.32 ppg and fourth in the country with 17 assists in 2015-16.
JUDD IS BACK: Judd Peterson returned to the ice on Jan. 1-2 during the series against Arizona State. Peterson replied with 1g/1a on Jan. 1 and also had 1g/2a on Jan. 2. He is now tied for the team's goal scoring lead this season with 12 in 2015-16. Peterson ranks eighth in the country with an average of 0.71 goals per game.
EXHIBITION SETBACK: The Huskies wrapped up a busy first weekend of 2016 with a 7-6 overtime loss against the U.S. NTDP U18 squad at the HBNHC on Jan. 3. In the contest, Blake Winiecki had a big night with four goals for the Huskies.
TIGER TALES: SCSU owns a seven-game unbeaten streak against the Tigers dating back to a 4-3 loss on Feb. 22, 2013...last year, SCSU collected a 7-1 and 6-1 series sweep against the Tigers in Colorado Springs, Colo. on Jan. 30-31, 2015...SCSU also owns a five-game win streak against CC. The last time this series was played in St. Cloud, the Huskies charted a 2-2 tie on Nov. 22, 2013 and a 6-2 win on Nov. 23, 2013...in the all-time series against CC, the Huskies own a 38-48-7 all-time record against the Tigers. The series started on Jan. 23, 1989 with a 5-2 win for the Huskies in Colorado Springs, Colo.
ON DECK: SCSU will be on the road next weekend with a pair of NCHC battles at Minnesota Duluth on Jan. 15-16. The Huskies will be back home at the HBNHC on Jan. 22-23 for a pair of home dates against NCHC rival Western Michigan.
