Men’s Basketball Runs Away From Jamestown, 99-77

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The St. Cloud State men's basketball team (8-6), behind 30 points from senior Scottie Stone, ran away from Jamestown (8-8) by a 99-77 score on Monday, Dec. 19, at Halenbeck Hall.
Stone's 30 points was his second straight game tallying exactly 30 points and the fifth time he has reached the mark in his career. Stone knocked down six threes and all 10 of his free throws plus picked up six rebounds in the victory. Redshirt sophomore Gage Davis recorded 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Senior Mark Hall tallied 13 points, four rebounds and four assists. Junior Jon Averkamp totaled 13 points, six rebounds and two steals. Redshirt sophomore Kurt Hall reached six points and a game-high nine rebounds. Sophomore Brindley Theisen picked up six points while junior Andy Foley had five points, three rebounds and two steals.
The Jimmies put three in double figures led by Jake Hagler and Jon Purintun's 12 points each.
The Huskies shot 49.3 percent for the game (35-for-71) and had a mark of 46.2 percent from three-point range (12-for-26). The team also knocked down 17 free throws in 21 attempts (81 percent) plus had a season-high 47 rebounds.
The program led from start to finish with Jamestown never able to take the lead. SCSU largest lead of the game came with 6:09 remaining when a made free throw from Mark Hall put the program up 23, 85-62. SCSU only led by five points at halftime, but then outscored Jamestown by a 50-33 score in the second half.
Next, after a break for Christmas, SCSU continues the home stand and welcomes in Minot State (6-6) and the University of Mary (5-7). The Huskies take on the Minot State Beavers in Dec. 30 at 8 p.m. and then the University of Mary Marauders on Dec. 31 at 6 p.m.
