#3 St. Cloud State men's hockey sweeps Omaha with 6-3 victory

The #3 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team charted a weekend sweep at #11/12 Omaha with a 6-3 victory at Baxter Arena on Feb. 20.
The victory moves SCSU's record to 25-6-1, 15-4-1 NCHC.
In the first period, SCSU's Blake Winiecki opened the game's scoring with a marker at 5:02 of the first. He was assisted on the play by Robby Jackson and Jacob Benson.
The Huskies stretched the lead to 2-0 with a goal by Patrick Russell at 10:25 of the second period. Mikey Eyssimont was added the lone assist on the goal for SCSU.
SCSU moved the score to 3-0 with a power play goal by Ethan Prow at 12:10 of the second period. Joey Benik and Patrick Russell each had assists on the play for SCSU. Omaha broke the shutout at 12:54 with a goal by Luke Nogard and then made it 3-2 with a goal by Jake Guentzel at the buzzer of the second period.
In the third period, Winiecki lit the lamp once more with a goal at 8:07 on assists from Jacob Benson and Robby Jackson. Omaha charged back to close the gap to 4-3 with a marker by Austin Ortega at 10:26.
The Huskies then iced the game with a goal by Kalle Kossila at 16:31 of the third with an assist from Mikey Eyssimont. In the closing minutes of play, Judd Peterson closed the door with his empty netter at 18:52 that made the final 6-3.
In the contest, Omaha outshot the Huskies 32-27. Charlie Lindgren made 29 saves for SCSU and earned his 24th victory of the season. Evan Weninger made 21 saves for Omaha in the nets.
SCSU was 1-4 on the power play and the Huskies were 6-6 on the penalty kill.
SCSU will return home on Feb. 26-27 for a pair of home games against Minnesota Duluth.
