Tucson, Ariz. - The St. Cloud State University baseball team maintained its undefeated record in 2016 thanks to a 12-4 victory over Malone University on Monday, March 7. The game was played tonight in Tucson, Ariz.

The Huskies claimed a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning with runs scored by Brandon Arnold, Kyle Lieser, Karl Sorensen and Zach Hoffmann. Judd Davis scored a run on a double by Lieser in the second inning to make it 5-0. Malone added one run in the bottom of the second to make it 5-1.

SCSU's Hoffmann scored on a double by Hoffman in the third to make the tally 6-1 before Malone added one more run in the bottom of the third. SCSU pushed a run across in the fourth inning to make it 7-1 and then iced the game with two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth. Sorensen tripled in the sixth to get the ball rolling and then Reese Gregory belted a two-run homer to seal the deal offensively. SCSU outhit Malone 12-4 in the game.

Ryan Diers claimed the victory on the mound for SCSU with four strikeouts and six hits allowed in 5.0 innings of work. Tyler Gentz, Miles Nablo and David Kroger finished the game in relief of Diers.

. SCSU will continue its Tucson trip on March 8 with non-conference games against Southwest Minnesota State and Malone.
