Tucson, Ariz. - The #2 St. Cloud State University baseball team (7-0, 0-0 NSIC) continued its success in 2016 with a convincing 15-4 win over Southwest Minnesota State University on Tuesday, March 8 in Tucson, Ariz.

The Huskies and Mustangs were tied 2-2 in the second inning before SCSU gained a 3-2 lead with one run in the top of the third. SCSU then gained the upper hand by exploding for six runs in the top of the sixth inning to make the tally 9-2. The Huskies added one more run in the seventh inning and then rallied again with five runs in the top of the ninth inning to ice the contest.

In the contest, SCSU outhit SMSU by a 21-7 margin. Kevin Bolder was the pitcher of record for the Huskies with seven strikeouts and five hits allowed in 6.0 innings of work. Dominic Austing and Matt Butler completed the game for SCSU in relief as the trio combined for a total of 10 strikeouts in the game for the Huskies.

At the plate, Karl Sorensen belted a home run for SCSU and ended his day with two hits and three RBIs. Brandon Arnold added four hits and two runs for the Huskies, while Logan Swann had three hits (including two doubles) and Judd Davis, Zach Metzger and Zak Hoffman all had two hits for the Huskies.

SCSU finished its day on March 8 with a game against Malone University in Tucson. On March 9, SCSU is slated to play Northern State at 3 p.m. (MT).
