The St. Cloud State University baseball team, which is ranked #2 in the nation by this week's NCBWA DII poll, moved its record to 8-0 on the season with a 16-3 win over Malone University on March 8 in Tucson, Ariz.

The Huskies' Reese Gregory gained the pitching victory and improved to 3-0 on the season. He had 10 strikeouts in just four innings of work before being relieved by Logan Spitzack, Kyle Boser and Zach Sigglekow. In the contest, the Huskies outhit Malone 19-7.

At the plate, SCSU trailed 3-1 after two innings of play but a four-run barrage in the third gave the Huskies a 5-3 lead in the contest. The Huskies went on to add five runs in the fifth inning, four runs in the sixth inning and two runs in the seventh inning to seal the victory.

Zach Hoffmann led off the third inning with a home run, while Jackson Goplen also notched a round-tripper in the sixth inning. Mathew Meyer and Brandon Arnold paced SCSU with three hits apiece. Meyer had a triple and four RBIs, while Arnold had two doubles and two RBIs in the game. Kyle Lieser, Reese Gregory and Judd Davis also had two hits apiece in the game for SCSU.

SCSU will continue its 2016 season with a 3 p.m. (MT) game against Northern State University in Tucson, Ariz.
