The Huskies jumped to a 6-1 lead in the second inning of the game against NSU on the strength of home runs in the inning by Zak Hoffman and Judd Davis. Â SCSU stretched its lead to 9-2 with three runs in the top of the fourth inning before NSU rallied with five runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Reese Gregory drilled another SCSU home run in the sixth inning to make the score 10-7 in favor of SCSU. Â The Huskies then added three more runs in the top of the seventh to stretch their lead to 13-7. Â NSU replied with a pair of runs in the seventh before the Huskies answered the bell with three more runs in the top of the eighth to make it 16-9. Â The Huskies scored one more run in the top of the ninth, while NSU completed the day with two runs in the bottom of the ninth, which made the final score 17-12.
In the game, SCSU outhit the Wolves 21-17. Â Davis had four hits, including a homer in the game, while Hoffman had a homer, double and single for SCSU. Â Logan Swann and Karl Sorensen also had three hits apiece in the winning effort for the Huskies.
