#2 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey to host Colorado College on Nov. 17-18

The #2 ranked St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (7-2-0, 2-2-0 NCHC) will faceoff against Colorado College on Nov. 17-18 at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn. The Tigers received votes in the recent NCAA polls and own a 7-5-0, 3-3-0 NCHC record coming into the games this week in St. Cloud. The game on Nov. 17 is slated to begin at 7:37 p.m. and the game on Nov. 18 will begin at 7:07 p.m. Great tickets are available for both of these games at scsutickets.com or by calling 1-877-SCSUTIX.

IN THE POLLS: The Huskies received a #2 ranking in the 2017-18 USA TODAY/USA Hockey Division I poll on Nov. 13. SCSU also gained a #2 ranking in the USCHO.com poll this week. Colorado College received votes in the USCHO.com poll and the USA TODAY/USA Today poll. St. Cloud State was picked as the #2 team in the 2017-18 preseason NCHC poll. Of note, the Huskies received votes in the final USCHO.com poll of 2016-17.
TOUGH SCHEDULE: The Huskies will add another nationally ranked opponent to their play list on Nov. 17-18. Colorado College received votes in the most recent DI polls released this week. SCSU owns a perfect 5-2-0 record against nationally ranked teams this season, which includes victories over Minnesota State Mankato, Boston College and Minnesota Duluth..
QUICK HITS: The Huskies have outshot their opponents 290-278 this season and they have outscored them 36-22...Jimmy Schuldt ranks ninth in the nation with a scoring rate of 1.44 points per game and Robby Jackson is 17th at 1.33 ppg.
STREAK SNAPPED: The Huskies saw their seven-game winning streak end on Nov. 10-11 with a pair of weekend setbacks at the University of Denver. SCSU opened the weekend with a 4-2 loss to the Pioneers and then lost 5-1 on Saturday night at Magness Arena. SCSU's 7-0-0 start was its best start to a season since going 9-0-0 to open the 2001-02 campaign..
THE SCHULDT SHOWCASE: Junior captain added an assist for the Huskies on Nov. 10 at Denver and now leads the nation's DI defensemen with a scoring rate of 1.44 points per game. Schuldt has charted five goals and eight assists for 13 points in nine games played this winter. Schuldt also leads SCSU in all scoring categories (goals, assists and points) this season along with being the team's plus/minus leader at +10 this year and the Huskies' blocks leader at 20.
EIGHT AND COUNTING: Junior Robby Jackson has been lighting it up this season for the Huskies. He brings an eight-game point scoring streak into the weekend's tilts against CC. Jackson added two assists on Nov. 10 and one assist on Nov. 11 against DU. On the year, Jackson ranks second on the team with 12 points and is tied for the team's assist lead at eight. His second assist on Nov. 10 was Jackson's 50th career point as a Husky. In 81 career games in the Granite City, Jackson has 22 goals and 29 assists to his credit.
HOT HAND: Senior Blake Winiecki has been surging of late with points scored in his last three games. After being a healthy scratch on Nov. 3, Winiecki has replied with two goals and two assists in his last three outings. He notched his second goal of the year on Nov. 10 at Denver and also had an assist on Kevin Fitzgerald's goal on Nov. 11 at Denver. A resident of Lakeville, Minn., Winiecki has 31 goals and 32 assists in 119 career games at SCSU.
MIKA MILESTONE: Senior blueliner Mika Ilvonen scored his first career goal as a Husky on Nov. 10 with his marker against the Pioneers. In 2017-18, Ilvonen has one goal and one assists. In 45 career gams played, Ilvonen has scored one goal and seven assists for the Huskies.
FYI: SCSU ranks third in the country with a scoring rate of 4.00 goals per game, while Colorado College is 27th at 2.92 goals per game...SCSU ranks 13th in the nation on defense with an average of 2.44 goals allowed per game... SCSU's power play ranks eighth in the nation at 26.7 percent (12-of-45)...SCSU ranks second in the nation with a team winning percentage of .778 (7-2-0).
COLORADO COLLEGE NOTEBOOK: In the all-time series against CC, the Tigers own a 50-44-7 edge. The first meeting between these two teams was a 5-2 win for the Tigers on Jan. 23, 1989 in Colorado Springs, Colo...Last year at the HBNHC, SCSU scored a 5-2 win and a 2-1 loss against CC on March 3-4, 2017. In the last 15 outings against the Tigers, SCSU has dominated with a 12-2-1 record...Coach Bob Motzko owns a 23-14-4 record against CC during his tenure at SCSU...This will mark the lone regular season meetings against CC for the Huskies in 2017-18. Of note, SCSU owns a nine-game win streak at CC dating back to a 4-3 loss at the World Arena on Feb. 22, 2013. In 2016-17, the Huskies were 3-1-0 against Colorado College and that included a 7-3 and 4-1 sweep vs. CC on Nov. 11-12, 2016...Mikey Eyssimont has nine points (4g/5a) scored against CC during his career at SCSU...SCSU assistant coach Mike Gibbons served as an assistant coach for CC from 1988 and 1990. season.
