Huskies to face #3 Pioneers at Magness Arena
The #1 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (7-0-0, 2-0-0 NCHC) will continue its season with a pair of road games against #3 University of Denver (4-2-2, 0-2-0 NCHC) at Magness Arena in Denver, Colo.

IN THE POLLS: The Huskies received a #1 ranking in the 2017-18 USA TODAY/USA Hockey Division I poll on Nov. 6. SCSU also gained a #1 ranking in the USCHO.com poll this week. Denver is ranked #3 in the USCHO.com poll and #3 in the USA TODAY/USA Today poll. St. Cloud State was picked as the #2 team in the 2017-18 preseason NCHC poll. Of note, the Huskies received votes in the final USCHO.com poll of 2016-17.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: SCSU's David Hrenak was selected as the NCHC Rookie of the Week on Nov. 6. He earned the honor after his 5-0 shutout win over #8 Minnesota Duluth on Nov. 4 at the HBNHC. Hrenak gained 29 saves in the game on his way to his first collegiate shutout at SCSU. He is a freshman from Slovakia, who played junior hockey in the USHL .

TOUGH SCHEDULE: The Huskies will add another national ranked opponent to their play list on Nov. 10-11 with a trip to #3 Denver. SCSU owns a perfect 5-0-0 record against national ranked teams this season, which includes victories over Minnesota State Mankato, Boston College and Minnesota Duluth.
TOP TALK: The St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (7-0-0, 2-0-0 NCHC) gained the top ranking in this week's USCHO.com and USA TODAY/USA Hockey Division I polls. This marks the first time since Dec. 9, 2013 that the Huskies have received a number one ranking in the weekly DI polls.

DEFENSIVE POWER: Junior captain Jimmy Schuldt currently leads all Division I blueliners with a scoring rate of 1.71 points per game (5g/7a) this season. He also ranks fifth in the nation among all DI players for scoring.
HELPING HANDS: The trio of Schuldt, Ryan Poehling and Jack Ahcan are tied at 11th in the nation for most assists per game this year at 1.00. Of note, Schuldt ranks third in the nation with two game winning goals this winter.
STOP FORCE: David Hrenak moved up to #5 in the nation this week with a goals against average of 1.65 and Jeff Smith ranks 14th among DI netminders at 2.00 goals against. Hrenak ranks third among DI goalies with a .946 save rate this winter and Smith ranks 10th at .930.
AT THE TOP: In addition to being the nation's #1 ranked team this week, SCSU leads all DI programs with a scoring average of 4.71 goals per game – 33 goals in seven games played. SCSU also leads the country with a 2.86 scoring margin this season. On defense, SCSU ranks 6th in the nation with a 1.86 goals allowed per game average.
ADVANTAGE SCSU: Special teams have been solid for the Huskies in 2017-18. SCSU's power play ranks third in the nation at 32.4 percent (11-of-34) and its penalty kill ranks 11th in the nation at 88.0 percent (22-of-25).
THE STREAK: The Huskies own the longest unbeaten streak in the nation at seven games. The last time the Huskies opened their season with more than seven consecutive wins was a 9-0-0 run to start the 2001-02 season. On the topic of long win streaks, the longest winning streak in SCSU DI history was a 12-game run from Nov. 17, 2006 to Jan. 6, 2007.
COLORADO KID: Mikey Eyssimont is SCSU's active career point leader with 70 points. In the series against UMD, scored both his 30th career goal and 40th career assist. On the season, Eyssimont now has seven points (2g/5a). A resident of Colorado, SCSU's Mikey Eyssimont has three goals and four assists in seven games played against DU during his career. He is from Littleton, Colo.
DENVER LINKS: SCSU head coach Bob Motzko served as an associate head coach at Denver from 1993-94. SCSU assistant coach Mike Gibbons was an assistant coach at Denver from 1990-94.
FIRST POINTS: SCSU senior Blake Winiecki got back on the scoresheet against UMD on Nov. 4. Winiecki issued his first goal and first assist of the 2017-18 in the 5-0 win on Nov. 4. In 117 career games as a Husky, Winiecki has 30 goals, 31 assists and 61 points. Freshman Easton Brodzinski scored his first college goal on Nov. 3, 2017.
ICE TIME: SCSU newcomers Will Hammer and Tyler Anderson both saw action in their first college games on Nov. 4 vs. UMD. Hammer is a resident of St. Cloud and a graduate of St. Cloud Cathedral High School.
TEAM NOTABLES: Jimmy Schuldt leads the Huskies on the plus/minus at +12 this year. A defenseman, Schuldt also ranks third on the team in shots on goal at 17. Robby Jackson leads the Huskies with 21 shots on goal. Jackson scored his third career SHG in SCSU's win over UMD on Nov. 4. Nick Poehling ranks second on the team with 18 shots on target this year. Schuldt and Jack Poehling lead the Huskies with five goals apiece this season.
MORE TEAM FACTS: SCSU has outscored its opponents 33-13 this season, and the Huskies have outshot their opponents 233-207 in 2017-18...Last year, SCSU was 1-3-0 in play against Denver. In the pair of games at DU in 2016-17, the Huskies lost a 4-3 OT match and a 7-2 game on Feb. 24-25, 2017. Earlier in the year, SCSU scored a 3-2 OT win and a 3-1 loss at the HBNHC on Jan. 20-21, 2017. SCSU is 5-5-0 in the last 10 outings against Denver. SCSU head coach Bob Motzko is 19-17-1 in play against DU during his coaching career at SCSU.
