Huskies end season with loss to UCO at NCAA Regional

UCO opened the game with a bang by scoring six runs in the first inning to take a 6-0 lead. Â In the top of the second, SCSU charged back with three runs to make it 6-3.
The Huskies' second was jump started by a two-run homer to left field by Logan Swann, which scored Jackson Goplen. Â Isaac Matchinsky was then hit by a pitch and later scored on a error.
UCO added two more runs in the third inning to stretch its lead back to 8-3.  In the fourth inning, the Huskies made it 8-4 with a run scored by Cooper Maas on a wild pitch by UCO.
In the sixth inning, the Huskies rallied again with three runs to make it 8-7. Â The inning began with a RBI double by Mitch Mallek that scored Maas. Â A double to right center by Mathew Meyer brought home Mallek and Davis and made it 8-7.
The rally was quick doused by six runs from UCO in the bottom of the sixth, which made the tally 14-7. Â The Huskies bounced back with a solo run in the top of the seventh inning.
Austin Caspersen started the game and took the loss for the Huskies on the mound. Â In the game, UCO outhit the Huskies 17-12.
The loss ends the Huskies' season and allows Central Oklahoma to advance to the regional title game against Lindenwood on Monday, May 22 in Emporia, Kan.
