Gottschalk leads Huskies at NSIC Heptathlon with 4th place finish

St. Cloud State University junior Natalie Gottschalk led the Huskies with a fourth place finish at the 2018 NSIC heptathlon on April 29-30. The event was held at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D.
Gottschalk charted 4,792 points, while Kalle Burney of Concordia-St. Paul won the top spot with a score of 5,323 and her teammate Wakpor Ighovojah was second at 5,022. Â
SCSU's Faith Lubner turned in a top 10 score in the event with a seventh place finish at 4,422 and teammate Leighten Fischer was 11th at 4,125.
Gottschalk charted a time of 14.89 in the 100 hurdles and also had a top jump of 1.57m in the high jump and a top throw of 9.45m in the shot put. She finished her first day with a time of 26.59 in the 200 meters. On day two, Gottschalk had a top perfomance of 5.35m long jump along with a throw of 33.37m in the javelin. She ended the event with a time of 2:21.97 in the 800 meters.
Lubner's scores in the events were as follows: 100 hurdles - 14.98, high jump - 1.51m, shot put - 8.35m, 200 meters - 25.89, long jump 5.24m, javelin - 29.49m and 800 meters - 2:35.63.
Fischer's scores in the events were as follows:Â 100 hurdles - 15.54, high jump - 1.45m, shot put - 8.12m, 200 meters - 26.67, long jump 5.09m, javelin - 23.92m and 800 meters - 2:29.95.
The 2018 NSIC Outdoor Track and Field championships will wrap up on May 11-12 at the Paul Giel Field in Winona, Minn.
