
St. Cloud State Track & Field Wins Four Events at CSB Invitational

Huskies record 22 top-five finishes, 21 personal bests and five season bests
COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – St. Cloud State Track & Field posted four event wins, 22 top-five finishes, 21 personal bests and five personal bests at the CSB Invitational at Clemens Stadium (Saint John's) in Collegeville on Thursday and Friday.
For the second time this outdoor season, fifth year sprinter Katie Lavato (Buffalo, Minn.) swept the 100- and 200-meter titles, running new season bests in both events, finishing in 12.07 and 25.14 respectively. Sophomore sprinter/jumper Myesha Thompson (Mount Horeb, Wis.) won her first event since January 31, after leaping 5.52m/18-1.5 to claim the long jump title. Senior jumper/middle distance runner Makaylin Christenson (Prairie Farm, Wis.) captured the win in her first career heptathlon after positing 4,488 points.
Thompson also placed second in the 100 (12.86) and the 200 (26.43) after running a new personal best in the latter. En route to her multi-event win, Christenson set new personal bests in nearly half of the events. Her new personal records were 16.05 in the 100 hurdles, 5.37m/17-7.5 in the long jump and 9.22m/30-3 in the shot put.
Freshman thrower Kim Feller (East Helena, Mont.) posted new personal bests in the discus throw (34.14m/112-0), hammer throw (41.91m/137-6) and javelin throw (33.40m/109-7) and was the top SCSU finisher in each event. Sophomore thrower Hannah Bruskiewicz (Rogers, Minn.) recorded personal bests in both the hammer throw (33.75m/110-8) and the javelin throw (23.07m/75-8), while freshman thrower Mackenzie McMahon (Baraboo, Wis.) posted a new hammer throw career best (41.31m/135-6).
Freshman distance runner Abbygail Nunez (South St. Paul, Minn.) captured a pair of career bests in the 400 meters (1:03.22) and 1,500 meters (5:08.42), showing off her range. Sophomore distance runner Alena Donahue (West Salem, Wis.) was second in the 3,000 steeplchase after running a new personal best time of 11:49.52 and freshman jumper/sprinter Kinsey Mohwinkle (Aplington, Iowa) was second in the high jump after clearing a new personal best height of 1.55m/5-1.
Sophomore sprinter Jenna Marxhausen (Two Harbors, Minn.) and freshman sprinter Emma Hoppman (Red Wing, Minn.) each ran to new personal best 400 meter times in 1:00.94 and 1:02.14 respectively.
In the 100 meters, freshman sprinter Jayla Patterson (Romeoville, Ill.) (13.06), freshman Lauren Woelfel (Becker, Minn.) (14.43) and sophomore Olivia Witt (Delano, Minn.) (14.82) clocked a new career best time while senior Shelby Romig (Ankeny, Iowa) ran to a new season best time (14.12). Romig also posted a season best mark in the long jump, 4.95m/16-3.
Junior distance runner Hannah Little (Grimes, Iowa) ran to a new personal best in the 800 meters (2:31.98) and freshman distance runner MerriAnna Johnson (Osecola, Wis.) ran a new season's best time of 2:33.92.
In the 400 hurdles, Viola Okey-Ezealah (Port Harcourt, Nigeria) ran a personal best time of 1:13.48.
