SCSUÂ volleyball celebrates!
As St. Cloud State students begin classes today, the energy and excitement returns to our campus and community as young people fill our classrooms, parking lots, streets, and businesses. Every fall represents an opportunity to welcome new faces and reconnect with returners knowing the hopes and dreams, growth and development of our students are nurtured in the hands of our coaches, faculty, staff, alumni and community.
With just a few days until our opening football kick-off at Husky Stadium, we continue to prepare for the season. Here in Huskies Athletics that means that summer planning turns to weekly operationalizing. From now until May rarely a week will go by when we don't invite our Huskies community into our house to review a box score, listen to a game story, or cheer our Huskies from the stands. Behind the scenes facilities are prepped, scripts written, tickets printed, videos produced all to create the best environment possible for our participants and fans.
At the heart of all this work lie two significant, and highly related, priorities:
Huskies Student-Athletes: The young men and women who represent our programs and this University represent our "why". At its best, collegiate sport provides an opportunity for students to develop their myriad skills and achieve their potential in the classroom and on the field of play. In turn, this prepares them for a life of challenges and opportunities they will face at work, in their communities, and within their families. It enables them to go out into the world with confidence and perspective to make a difference.
St. Cloud State Community: The alumni, fans, partners and friends who support our programs do so with a belief in our students, the University, and community. Sport has long served as a unifier of people, and today, that is as important as ever. The engagement of youth and families, the patronage of local business, the vibrancy of entertainment options all makes a difference in Central Minnesota. St. Cloud State and Huskies Athletics are an important part of the fabric that makes St. Cloud a great place to live and grow. On top of that, supporting "our team" creates a sense of belonging and pride critical to healthy hearts and minds.
This year, St. Cloud State will celebrate its Sesquicentennial – 150 years of serving Minnesota and 50 years of women's intercollegiate athletics at SCSU. We are proud of our students, how they represent and interface with our community, and graduate to become contributors to their own communities as they stay connected to this one. We invite you to be part of our growing Huskies family and to follow our teams as they achieve their own hopes and dreams.
