Coaches and players from the St. Cloud State University men's basketball team helped kick of this year's "Read to the Final Four" statewide reading program with a visit to Oak Hill School in St. Cloud, Minn. on Friday, Sept. 14.
The SCSUÂ players and coaches took time out of their schedules to meet and read to the students at Oak Hill, and encourage them to participate in this year's unique program offered to third grade students in conjunction with the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four that will be played in Minneapolis in 2019.
To engage youth and leave a lasting, positive impact in the 2019 Final Four® host region, the Minneapolis Final Four Local Organizing Committee and the NCAA® have teamed up to promote and inspire reading for young people through a year-long, statewide, reading initiative titled "Read to the Final Four."
This signature legacy program offers several ways to participate, including a statewide reading goal for all non-third grade elementary students and a tournament-style reading competition for incoming Minnesota third graders, supported by a library of thousands of digital books.
