#9 St. Cloud State men's hockey to begin week three at NCHC on Dec. 16

The #9 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (4-2-0, 4-2-0 NCHC) will continue play at the NCHC Pod in Omaha this week with a 7:35 p.m. on Dec. 16 against #4 North Dakota (4-2-1, 4-2-1 NCHC). On Dec. 18, SCSU will play Colorado College (1-2-1, 1-2-1 NCHC) at 7:35 p.m. and the Huskies will play #7/8 Denver (2-4-0, 2-4-0 NCHC) at 4:05 p.m. on Dec. 20. All games will be played at Omaha's Baxter Arena. Please check the Huskies' schedule at scsuhuskies.com for any updates throughout their stay in Omaha.

IN THE POLLS: The Huskies rmoved into the NCAA Division I polls this week with a #9 ranking in the USA Today/USA Hockey poll and a #9 ranking in the USCHO.com poll. Both polls were released on Dec. 7. This marks SCSU's first top 10 national ranking in 2020-21.
LAST YEAR: The Huskies posted a 13-15-6 overall record in 2019-20 and placed fifth in the always rugged NCHC with a 10-12-2 conference record. SCSU's season was ended early before the start of the NCHC playoffs due to the COVID 19 crisis. Of note, SCSU was 7-5-2 in its last 14 games of the season that included key wins over nationally ranked Minnesota Duluth, North Dakota and Denver - all were ranked among the nation's top 10 teams at the time.

Of note, Hentges scored his goal at :51 of the first period and that marked the second time this season that Hentges has scored for the Huskies within the first minute of the game. GREAT GOALIE: David Hrenak improved to 3-1-0 on the season with his 33 save effort vs. UND. He now ranks 3rd in the team records with 52 career wins. Hrenak moves ahead of Charlie Lindgren, who had 51 wins from 2013-16. Ryan Faragher (2011-14) posted 53 wins at SCSU and Brian Leitza is the team's all-time win leader with 66 from 1994-98. Prior to the loss to Omaha on Dec. 13, SCSU had played 99 games without a shutout...in a rare penalty shot situtation, UND's Grant Mismash scored on a penalty shot at 17:45 of the 3rd period vs. SCSU. The last time a goal was scored on a penalty shot vs. SCSU was Oct. 25, 2014. Mike Vecchione at Union scored on a penalty shot at 19:46 of the 2nd period.

- Goalie Joey Lamoreaux made his first start of the season in SCSU's 2-0 loss to Omaha. He had 19 saves in the game.
- SCSU hit a season game-high with its 41 shots on net vs. Omaha on Dec. 13. The 21 shots allowed vs. Omaha were also a season game-low for the Huskies.
- Nick Perbix ranks 20th in the nation among NCAA DI blueliners with a scoring average of 0.83 ppg (2g/3a).
- The Huskies have scored 4-or-more goals in four of their six games this season. SCSU currently ranks 17th in the nation with a 3.17 goals per game scoring rate.

- Seamus Donohue leads SCSU with 16 blocked shots this season, which equals an impressive 2.7 blocks per game this season. Of note, two-time All-American Jimmy Schuldt had a team-leading 78 blocked shots during his senior season in 2018-19, which equalled 2.0 blocked shots per game that season.
