SCSU Student-Athletes earn Excellence in Leadership awards for 2020

Several St. Cloud State University student-athletes recently received 2020 Excellence in Leadership awards from the University. This group includes track and field athlete Shantelle Des Marais (Pipestone), football players Jerry Duckworth (Milwaukee, Wisc.) and Alec Hafferman (Edgar, Wisc.), women's swimmer Lauren Glassbrenner (Eau Claire, Wisc.) and women's basketball player Kassidy Steen (Cloquet, Minn.).

They were among 25 students at SCSU, who were recognized for their academic achievements and leadership skills. Applications were evaluated by a team of 20 faculty and staff judges from across campus.Â

Excellence in Leadership Awards are usually presented at a formal banquet each spring, but the in-person event was canceled due to the response to the COVID-19/Coronavirus pandemic to ensure the health and safety of students, faculty and staff members. Winners will receive their engraved medallion, certificate and a copy of the program book.Â
A virtual online ceremony saluted the award winners for 2020.
