St. Cloud State Baseball welcomes 12 newcomers to the roster in the 2021 season. Our next edition of "Meet the Newcomers" features sophomore catcher Caleb Marquez of Blue Springs, Missouri.
A 2018 graduate of Blue Springs High School, Marquez was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in 39th round of the 2018 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. He played two seasons of short-season Arizona League Rookie Ball in the Brewers organization where he started 33 games over his two-year stint while splitting time between catcher, first base and designated hitter. Marquez crushed seven doubles and two home runs to go with 18 RBI, stole three bases and handled a pitching staff that included 2017 Brewers second-rounder Caden Lemons and Huskies outfielder Lenny Walker's former South Mountain CC teammate Keegan McCarville.
