Lind scores lone goal in 4-1 Huskies loss to No. 6 UMD
1/29/2021 8:50:00 PM | Women's Hockey
Sophomore forward Taylor Lind scored the lone Huskies goal as St. Cloud State women's hockey (3-10-1, 3-10-1 WCHA) fell 4-1 at the hands of No. 6 Minnesota-Duluth (7-4-0, 7-4-0 WCHA) on the road Friday evening. Emma Polusny recorded 45 saves in net for SCSU as the Huskies were outshot 49-21.
The Huskies' penalty kill played another outstanding game, eliminating both Bulldog power plays.
Minnesota-Duluth opened the game with a dominant first period, scoring a shorthanded goal to begin the scoring and added another tally to make it 2-0 Bulldogs headed into the first intermission. UMD added another early in the second, then the two sides played a tight 15 minutes before Lind struck late in the period.
Addi Scribner took a point-to-point feed from Taytum Geier and sent a shot sailing towards the UMD crease, tipped in by Lind with 0.8 seconds left on the clock to put SCSU on the board and trim the deficit to two.
UMD scored their fourth and final goal five minutes into the closing frame.
Jenniina Nylund put five shots on goal throughout the evening, while Emma Gentry and Mackenzie Bourgerie each added four. Adela Skrdlova, McKenna Wesloh and Lind each had a pair of blocks.
The Huskies and Bulldogs will conclude their series on Saturday afternoon at 3:07 p.m. CST, streaming on FloHockey and KVSC 88.1 FM.
