SCSU women's swim and dive opens season at Minnesota State

The St. Cloud State University women's swim and dive team (0-1) opened its 2020-21 season with a 187-111 loss at Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minn. on Jan. 9.
The Huskies were led with first place finishes in the dual meet by Mady Brinkman and Kasey Milstroh.
Brinkman claimed first in the 1M and 3M diving events with scores of 234.35 and 242.45 respectively. Teammate Meredith Matchinsky also placed second in both events at Mankato with scores of 232.95 in the 1M event and 214.90 in the 3M event.
Milstroh brought home a first place finish in the 100 fly with a time of 59.38, and she also claimed top honors in the 200 fly with a time of 2:14.30. Â
Other top placers for the Huskies included Christina Ware with a second place finish in the 200 free at 1:58.28 and Alexis Burroughs with a second place finish in the 50 free at 25.20.
Ashton Hozba placed second in the 100 free (54.88) and Andrea Rodriguez-Arzola placed second in the 1000 free at 11:01.48. She also gained a second place finish in the 500 free at 5:23.54.
SCSU's 200 medley relay finished with a second place finish in the dual with a time of 1:49.73. The foursome included Kara Cowell, Milstroh, Burroughs and Marena Kouba. In the other relay event, SCSU took second in the 400 free with a time of 3:39.16. The team included Ware, Hozba, Alaina Friske and Milstroh.
SCSU will return to action at Halenbeck Hall on Jan. 14 with a home dual meet against Southwest Minnesota State.
