
SCSU travels to battle No. 2 Ohio State

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Hockey returns to action this weekend on the road with a two-game series at No. 2 Ohio State. The Huskies take on the Buckeyes at the OSU Ice Rink in Columbus on Friday and Saturday, October 29 and 30 with puck drop set for 5:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. CST respectively.
Coverage of the series will be provided by 97.5 FM RadioX on Friday and the KVSC Sports Stream on Saturday with Sam Goetzinger and Joey Erickson on the call. The series will also be streamed on B1G+ for subscribers.
The Huskies were idle last week after earning two points in the WCHA standings over Homecoming weekend against St. Thomas. Following a 3-2 loss in the series opener at Mendota Heights, SCSU gained the extra point in a shootout in on Homecoming. Allie Cornelius continued her strong start to the season with the shootout winner, while Emma Polusny stopped 23 shots and moved to third all-time in program history in career saves. Taylor Lind is St. Cloud State's point leader with six on a 2-4-6 line, scoring a point in eight of her last ten, while Emma Gentry and Olivia Cvar join her in the team lead with two goals. Senior defender Taytum Geier has notched an assist in four of the Huskies' first six games this season and freshman pairing mate Dayle Ross leads all Huskies with 15 blocks.
Ohio State is off to a strong start in 2021-22, currently holding the lead in the WCHA standings with a 6-2-0 overall record. The Buckeyes were swept last weekend by No. 1 Wisconsin at LaBahn, falling 3-1 then losing 2-1 in overtime on Nicole LaMantia's second goal of the night. Julia Buglioni leads the Buckeyes in scoring with 13 points on five goals and eight assists, while Gabby Rosenthal has scored seven times and added two assists for nine. Jennifer Gardiner has gone 4-7-11 and Bemidji State transfer Clair DeGeorge owns a 3-3-6 line. Goaltender Andrea Braendli is 4-2-0 on the year with a 1.20 goals against average and a .955 save percentage.
The Huskies come back to the HBNHC next weekend for a series with RV Minnesota State on November 5-6.
