St. Cloud State first baseman Jake Shusterich has been named Second Team All-Central Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) as part of their awards release this past weekend. The teams are voted on by members of the ABCA and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. II All-America Committee. Shusterich is the first Huskies player to be honored by the ABCA since Dominic Austing picked up First Team recognition in 2019, and SCSU has now had at least one student-athlete earn ABCA All-Region honors for 13 straight seasons dating back to 2009.
Shusterich slashed .371/.485/.629 for a team-high 1.114 OPS to go with 12 doubles, five home runs and 33 RBI during his 2021 senior campaign at SCSU. At the conclusion of the regular season, Shusterich was second in the NSIC in on-base percentage. He led all Central Region first basemen in OBP and slugging, along with OPS. The righthanded hitter led the Huskies to yet another NSIC Championships appearance and started every game he played in the cleanup spot.
