Buske wins the triple jump, finishes third in long jump

MANKATO, Minn. – St. Cloud State Track & Field was back in action at the Minnesota State Invitational on Friday in Mankato, as the Huskies recorded five top-five finishes on the day. Junior Parker Buske (Madison, Wis.) led the way for the Huskies, tallying a first-place finish in the triple jump and a third-place finish in the long jump.

In the team standings, the Huskies finished fifth with 37.5 team points.

NOTABLE FINISHES

Buske had a superb day in jumping events for the Huskies, recording a first-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 11.61m (38-1.25) and a third-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.40m (17-8.75), which matched a personal best.
Two Huskies finished in the top-five in the high jump, as senior Hannah Arason (Grand Forks, N.D.) third with a clearance of1.65m (5-5) while sophomore Julia Rowles (Plymouth, Minn.) finished fourth at 1.60m (5-3).
In the mile run, senior Clara Welhouse (Green Bay, Wis.) finished fifth with a time of 5:38.18.

After having a strong meet in December, we needed this meet to remind us of what a competition is like and prepare us for the remainder of the indoor season.
