Huskies battle Badgers in WCHA home opener
St. Cloud, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Hockey plays host to No. 4/5 Wisconsin this weekend for the Huskies' WCHA home opening series. SCSU and Wisconsin drop the puck at 6:00 p.m. CT Friday with a 3:00 p.m. CT start on Saturday at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
Weekend Promotions
Friday's tilt is Huskies Women's Hockey's Breast Cancer Awareness Night. SCSU celebrates World Girls Hockey Day on Saturday with a Youth Night – featuring free admission for children ages 13 and under – and post-game autographs with the team.

Last Time Out
St. Cloud State scored a pair of power play goals but couldn't slow down No. 1 Ohio State in a 6-2 loss on Saturday afternoon in Columbus. Emma Gentry scored the first of two Huskies power play goals just three minutes into the second, jumping on a rebound off a Grace Wolfe shot and throwing it past the goaltender's right shoulder. Ohio State scored the next four goals of the game to swing momentum their way. Jenniina Nylund scored her third goal of the season with a power play strike as the Huskies went on a 4-on-3 advantage late in the third, redirecting a Taylor Lind try around the tender. Both teams displayed strong power play units as the Huskies were 2-for-2 and Ohio State was 2-of-3.
Huskies Primer
The Huskies were swept last weekend by No. 1 Ohio State, struggling to generate consistent chances on the offensive end. SCSU was outshot 84-29 in the series and took eight penalties, allowing the Buckeyes to go 3-for-8 on the power play for a 62.5% kill. Jenniina Nylund and Emma Gentry share the Huskies' goal lead this season with three each while Taylor Lind leads in both assists and points with a 2-4-6 line. Klára Hymlárová has a point in each of St. Cloud State's first four games. On the defensive end, Taytum Geier has 11 blocks while Regan Bulger has 10, both landing in the top-seven of the conference leaders. Sanni Ahola has started three games in goal for SCSU with a 1-2-0 record while JoJo Chobak owns a 0.75 goals against and a .967 save percentage across 79:31 in the crease.
Scouting Wisconsin
The Badgers are 5-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play this season, entering the series having won five straight after a 4-1 opening night loss at Penn State. Since their loss, the Badgers are outscoring their opponents 49-2 and have not allowed a team to score more than one goal in any of the five contests. Casey O'Brien (4-8-12), Lacey Eden (5-6-11), Sophie Shirley (5-6-11) and Caroline Harvey (1-9-10) each have already reached double-digit points this season while eight Badgers have skated to a plus-10 or better. Jane Gervais (3-0-0, 0.67 GAA, .963 SV%) and Cami Kronish (2-1-0, 1.01 GAA, .914 SV%) have split Wisconsin's six games in goal.

The Huskies are 6-83-3 against Wisconsin with their last win coming in Madison on February 20, 2015. Goals by Alyssa Erickson and Payge Pena provided the offense in a 2-1 win over then-No. 4 Wisconsin as Julie Friend stopped 52 of 53 shots faced in goal. Last season, St. Cloud State took a point from the Badgers with a shootout loss on January 28. The Huskies haven't beaten Wisconsin at the HBNHC since November 21, 2009.

St. Cloud State leads the nation with a 50.0% power play, having gone 5-for-10. Emma Gentry's three goals on the power play is tied for the WCHA lead and stands as the second-most across the NCAA.

Huskies freshman defender Regan Bulger has enjoyed a stellar start to her collegiate career, skating on the second pairing with Grace Wolfe and posting 10 blocks through four games. Bulger ranks seventh across the WCHA in blocked shots and has nine over her last three games.

SCSU captain Taylor Lind became the program's 28th member of the 50 Point Club last weekend with an assist on Friday in Columbus.
JoJo's House, Part II
Junior goaltender JoJo Chobak has made three career starts at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center with two of her outings being shutouts. Chobak shut out the Huskies last season and blanked RPI in her first start with SCSU this fall.

Assistant captain Taytum Geier is fifth in the WCHA this season with five blocks while delivering a 1-1-2 line, sharing the Huskies' defender point lead with sophomores Dayle Ross and Grace Wolfe.
Badger Connections
An iconic member of Wisconsin Women's Hockey history, Huskies associate head coach Jinelle Siergiej played for the Badgers from 2004-08. She gained All-WCHA honors in 2006, 2007 and 2008 and was selected to the WCHA All-Rookie team in 2005. At Wisconsin, Siergiej was part of two national title teams in 2006 and 2007 and left the campus as UW's all-time leader in goals, game-winning goals and power play goals. Across her four-year career the legendary forward produced 89 goals and 67 assists for 156 collegiate points, posting three 20-goal seasons and eclipsing 40 points twice with 50 in her junior season.
