Â
A Look Back
Last weekend was not the outcome the Huskies were looking for as they fell against UMary and Minot State. UMary brought the momentum right out the gate last Friday as the Huskies trailed 43-33 after the opening 20 minutes of play. The Marauders continued their attack in the second half as the point margin became too much for St. Cloud to respond to as they fell 91-77.
Â
Saturday's game held a similar candle to Friday's. St. Cloud struggled to find a solid footing during the game which Minot State took advantage of to continue to increase their lead. The Huskies were down 44-29 at half hoping to close that gap in the second. However, Minot State did not slow down as their hot shooting continued to keep the Huskies behind. In the end, St. Cloud fell 96-74.
Â
Minnesota State Moorhead Dragons
MSU-Moorhead is 9-2 overall, 4-1 in NSIC play. Their four conference wins are against Minot State, UMary, Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston. Their only conference loss comes against Northern State. Senior guard Lorenzo McGhee currently leads the Dragons in scoring averaging 14.9 points per game with sophomore guard Jacob Beeninga right behind him averaging 14.8 points per game.
Â
Northern State Wolves
Northern State sits at 8-3 overall, 4-1 in NSIC play. The Wolves have taken down conference opponents MSU-Moorhead, UMary, Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State while they have fallen against Minot State. Senior guard Sam Masten currently leads the Wolves in scoring averaging 18.5 points per game which ranks him 8th in the NSIC for scoring. Masten also leads the Wolves in rebounding averaging 7.2 per game.Â
