Huskies fall 6-0 at Ridder
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – No. 14 St. Cloud State Women's Hockey fell 6-0 at the hands of No. 4/6 Minnesota on Friday evening at Ridder Arena.
The Huskies were outshot 40-14, losing another skater to injury midway through the first then were forced to change goaltenders due to injury late in the second. Minnesota scored five times in the second and added one more in the third, controlling the game's momentum.
Dayle Ross led SCSU with seven blocks while Grace Wolfe and Jenniina Nylund each put three shots on.
JoJo Chobak played well coming in cold, stopping 15-of-16 shots in the third period.
Quotables – St. Cloud State head coach Brian Idalski
"Coming in we knew that Minnesota was a prideful team, a talented team and we were going to see their best today. That's what we got. The positives are they brought their A-game, and they showed us what a championship team looks likes. We've got to learn lessons, and we see that we have a lot of work to do."
"We had more success being able to have possession down low and attacking the net. The breakaways were just kind of a break on their part, the game was already in hand – I don't think we'll be getting many of those tomorrow."
On slowing down the Gophers with a banged-up skating group… "That's a great question, especially on the bigger sheet. We have to play a near-perfect game to have a chance – that's the task for tomorrow."
