Cowell Sets School Record at NSIC Championships

Cowell sets 100-yard breaststroke record, Huskies record five top-five finishes
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – St. Cloud State Women's Swim & Dive broke one school record and had five top-five finishes on the third day of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday, as sophomore Kara Cowell (Neenah, Wis.) set the school record in the 100-yard breaskstroke.
TEAM SCORES
After the three days of competition, the Huskies sit in second place with 608 points and continue to only trail Minnesota State, who currently has 725.5 points.
TOP HUSKIES
The NSIC Swimming and Diving Championships conclude on Saturday, as swimming prelims are scheduled for 10 a.m. CT, diving prelims at 1 p.m. CT and finals heats 5:30 p.m. CT in Sioux Falls. A live stream of the event is available through the NSIC Network.

TOP HUSKIES
- Cowell reset the school record in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing second with a time of 1:03.32.
- In the 500-yard freestyle, freshman Meredith Bangs (Muskego, Wis.) finished fourth at 5:07.51, while freshman Ruthie Lucht finished fifth at 5:07.94.
- St. Cloud State had two teams finish in the top-five in the 800-yard freestyle relay. The team of Bangs, junior Ashton Hobza (Albertville, Minn.), senior Whitney Hanson (Ladysmith, Wis.) and freshman Anna Reschko finished third at 7:36.20, while Lucht, sophomore Molly Arneson (Springboro, Ohio), junior Rosie Pang (Shah Alam, Malaysia) and Sydney Gulon (Detroit Lakes, Minn.) finished fifth at 7:47.70.
