Tupy Named NSIC Pitcher of the Week

Tupy threw the 28th perfect game in NCAA D-II history against Northern State, struck out 15
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Baseball redshirt freshman P Luke Tupy (New Prague, Minn.) was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Tupy etched his name into the record books with the 28th perfect game in NCAA Division-II history on April 21 against Northern State.
Tupy was perfect in the seven-inning game against the Wolves, striking out 15 batters to record SCSU's first no-hitter since 2013. The 15 strikeouts are the second-most in a single game in program history, trailing only Matt Jensen's 17 against MSU Moorhead in 1970.
He recorded just the sixth no-hitter and first perfect game since at least 1995 for SCSU, as he joined Scott Lieser (April 26, 2011 vs. Northern State), Logan Birr (April 27, 2012 vs. Minnesota Crookston), Scott Lieser (April 27, 2012 vs. Minnesota Crookston), Kyle Fischer (March 7, 2013 vs. Missouri S&T) and Scott Lieser (March 22, 2013 vs. Sioux Falls).
The Huskies will look to continue their 13-game win streak on Wednesday against Minnesota Duluth in a midweek doubleheader. The Huskies and Bulldogs will play at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. CT at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud. The Huskies will host Minnesota Crookston for its final home series of the season April 30-May 1 at Joe Faber Field.
