Wallat Earns ABCA Gold Glove Honors

Wallat earns top defensive honor at 3B nationally
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Baseball redshirt sophomore Tate Wallat (Federal Way, Wash.) earned a spot on the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II Gold Glove Team, announced in June. Wallat recently concluded his sophomore campaign as an All-NSIC Second Team and gold glove selection at third base. He is the first Husky to earn ABCA Gold Glover honors since Mike Jurgella did so at C in 2015.
Wallat earned all-conference honors for the first time in his career this season and was solid defensively at the hot corner for the Huskies, producing a .984 fielding percentage with just two errors, 37 put-outs and 84 assists. At the plate, he was a driving force at the top of the Husky lineup all season. The two-hole hitter hit .368 with 11 doubles, two home runs, 28 RBI and 50 runs scored, all career-highs and significant increases from his freshman campaign. Among conference leaders, he ranked third in on base percentage (.484), third in walks (34), seventh in batting average (.368), eighth in hits (67) and ninth in runs scored (50).
