Huskies Men’s Basketball Adds Two Recruits to 2024 Recruiting Class

St. Cloud State signs Kynan Philippe and Luke Winkel
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Men's Basketball has announced the addition of two student-athletes to its 2024 recruiting class. Kynan Philippe and Luke Winkel will join the Huskies next season.
KYNAN PHILIPPE | G/F | MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA | PADUA COLLEGE
A 6-7 guard/forward from Padua College and Melbourne, Australia, Kynan is a four-time All-State representative in Victoria. He played his club basketball with a reputable club in the Frankston Blues. He also competed on the Prep Hoops Circuit last summer with Australia's premiere AAU program, AUSA Hoops under the guidance of Anthony Separovich. He is the son of Julian and Tamara Philippe and has one sibling, Bryce Philippe. He plans to major in psychology at SCSU. In his free-time he enjoys music, playing golf and spending time at the beach.

"Kynan comes from a great Basketball Club in Frankston, Australia. He possesses a level of skill, toughness, and size that translates well to the NSIC. We had a chance to evaluate him with his talented AUSA program over the summer and we were impressed with his ability to shoot, defend and rebound. He is a team first guy, and his future will be bright in a Husky jersey. We look forward to his arrival in August."

"The first thing that jumped off the page about Kynan was his versatility, especially on the defensive end - he is that unique blend of size and athleticism. He is able to legitimately guard 1 through 5 on the defensive end.
He came to our program with a wealth of experience at the national level and truly brings a level of professionalism both on and off the court. He is one of those 'first guy in the gym last guy out' type athletes. His ability to shoot the ball from three at his size makes him a matchup nightmare for opposition teams and he has an excellent grasp of both offensive and defensive concepts.
He was well sought after last Summer at the Division 1 and 2 level, but he felt a connection with Coach Henderson and his staff after the visit and quickly wanted to commit to being a Husky. Kynan will no doubt be a valuable piece to the success of the program moving forward."
LUKE WINKEL | PG | ANKENY, IOWA | ANKENY CENTENTIAL HS
A 6-0 point guard from Ankeny Centennial High School in Ankeny, Iowa, Luke was a First Team All-State selection a season ago. He averaged 17 points and six assists per game during his junior campaign, where he guided his team to a state tournament appearance. Centennial is guided by well-respected Head Coach Bob Fontana. Luke had a blockbuster summer playing with top-tier Kingdom Hoops on Nike's Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) circuit. He is the son of Chris and Cindy Winkel and has two brothers, CJ and Jack. Luke intends to major in computer science at SCSU. His passions include the game of hoops, playing soccer and all things Adam Sandler.

"Luke is a winner. He had a great summer playing with Kingdom Hoops on the Nike Circuit. He knows how to play, he wants to be great, and he has the worth ethic to back it up. He will mesh well with our current contingent of guys. He comes from a strong and well coached program in Ankeny Centennial, and I am excited to follow what should be another exceptional year for their program."
