Sauriol Scores Again, No. 11 St. Cloud State Women’s Hockey Sweeps Bemidji State

Sauriol scores game-winner for second consecutive game, Kyrkkö records second shutout
BEMIDJI, Minn. – For the second game in a row, sophomore forward Alice Sauriol (Sherbrooke, Quebec) scored the game-winning goal as No. 11 St. Cloud State (6-0-0, 2-0-0 WCHA) earned a 2-0 victory over Bemidji State (0-6-0, 0-2-0 WCHA) on Saturday afternoon in Bemidji. With the win, the Huskies continued its best start in program history, improving to 6-0-0 for the first time in program history.
Freshman goaltender Emilia Kyrkkö (Nokia, Finland) made 18 saves and produced her second career shutout in her second career start, extending her scoreless stretch between the pipes to 120:00 to start her collegiate career.
Sauriol's game-winning score came at the 4:52 mark of the second period, as her and sophomore forward Sofianna Sundelin (Ulvila, Finland) started a break in the offensive zone. Sundelin came into the attacking zone and fed Sauriol, who moved up the ice on the left side, working her way around two defenders and straight to the crease, where she went forehand, backhand to beat the goalie. Junior forward Avery Farrell (Rogers, Minn.) added an empty net goal with under a minute to play to seal the victory.
