St. Cloud State Women’s Soccer Set to Host CSP and MSU at Husky Stadium

Huskies will face regional-ranked opponents Concordia-St. Paul and No. 13 Minnesota State
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (6-2-0, 3-1-0 NSIC) returns home to Husky Stadium for its next two contests, as the Huskies host Concordia-St. Paul (4-2-2, 2-2-0 NSIC) on Friday, Oct. 4 and No. 13 Minnesota State (5-1-2, 4-0-0 NSIC) on Sunday, Oct. 6. Friday's game is slated for 6:00 p.m. CT, while Sunday's game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT.
A battle for first place in the NSIC standings could be on the line on Sunday, as the Mavericks currently hold the top spot at 4-0-0 in league play while the Huskies are one game back with a 3-1-0 mark. Augustana is also tied for second with the Huskies at 3-1-0.

SERIES HISTORY
In the all-time series against the two schools, SCSU leads against CSP at 11-6-6, while trailing against MSU at 8-26-3.
In SCSU's last time out against the Golden Bears, the Huskies snapped a nine-game winless streak (0-4-5) with a 2-1 win in St. Paul on Oct. 1, 2023. redshirt senior midfielder Gracie Parsons (Omaha, Neb.) and senior forward Krysten Schuster (Beamsville, Ontario) both scored for the Huskies to earn the victory.
SCSU and Minnesota State played to a 0-0 draw in its last meeting on Sept. 29, 2023. The Huskies last win over the Mavericks came on Sept. 29, 2019, a 2-1 win in Mankato.
REGIONAL RANKINGS
St. Cloud State is currently ranked No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Central Regional rankings. In the NSIC, Minnesota State is ranked second, and Concordia-St. Paul is ranked seventh.
Last season, the Huskies earned the No. 3 spot in the NCAA Central Regional Tournament, its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
OLSON'S CAREER DAY LIFTS SCSU OVER WAYNE
Sophomore defender Grace Olson (West Des Moines, Iowa) lifted SCSU to victory over Wayne State on Sept. 29, scoring both of the Huskies' goals in a 2-0 victory while playing 80 minutes on the pitch. Olson scored her first and second goals of the season to move her season point total to five, and doubled her career goals from two to four with her first career two-goal game. Olson now has 11 career points with four goals and three assists. She has helped anchor the defensive line which ranks fourth in the NISC in GAA at 0.63.
PRIMERANO GETS PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOD
Ellie Primerano was named the NSIC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 23 after scoring in both games of SCSU's weekend sweep over Minnesota Duluth (2-1, Sept. 20) and Bemidji State (2-1, Sept. 22). It marked the third time in her career she has earned the conference weekly honor after winning it twice as a sophomore in 2023.
Primerano scored two goals and added an assist for a five-point weekend, as she also extended her goal streak to three consecutive games and had the game-winning goal in Sunday's win over the Beavers. She helped extend SCSU's win streak to nine over UMD, while helping the Huskies beat the Beavers for the first time since Nov. 13, 2019. Her five-point weekend helped her become the 22nd player in program history to reach 25 career points, as she now ranks 19th all-time with 28 career points (8g/12a).
Among NSIC leaders in 2024, she ranks second in game-winning goals (two), second in goals (four) and fourth in points per game (1.13).
ORHAM EXCELLING IN NET
Redshirt junior goalkeeper Meriel Orham (St. Michael, Minn.) has made the most of her opportunity in the net for the Huskies early on in the season, recording a 6-2-0 mark through the first six games of the season. She recorded the first two shutouts of her career in SCSU's wins over Roosevelt (Sept. 13, 2-0) and UW-Parkside (Sept. 15, 1-0), as she played the full 90 minutes in both contests and made three saves against Parkside. She then made four saves in a 2-0 shutout on Sept. 29 against Wayne State.
On the season, Orham is 6-2-0 with a 0.63 goals-against-average, .844 save percentage and three shutouts.
